Gear for home water leaks
Many water claims start small (a supply line under a sink, a dripping water heater, a washer hose) and grow with every hour nobody notices.
- Leak sensors — Small battery devices that sound an alarm, or alert your phone, when they get wet. Put them where water hides: under sinks, behind toilets, by the water heater and washer.
- Automatic shutoff valves — Close your main water line when a leak is detected. Some clamp onto an existing valve; others are installed in the line by a plumber.
- Freeze sensors — Warn you when a room gets cold enough for pipes to freeze. Most useful for homes that sit empty in winter or have pipes in unheated spaces.
- Free first — Find your main water shutoff and make sure everyone at home knows how to turn it off. Replace cracked or bulging washer hoses when you spot them.
