Security gear can make a home a harder target, and a recording can help document what happened for a police report or a claim.
- Video doorbells — Record who comes to the door and can help document package theft or a break-in.
- Smart security systems — Door, window, and motion sensors with phone alerts. Many offer optional professional monitoring for a monthly fee.
- Save the clip — Some systems keep recordings only for a limited time. If something happens, download the footage before it’s overwritten.
- Recording rules — Point cameras at your own property, and check local rules before recording audio.
